Visual Business Intelligence (VBI) Solutions

“Business Intelligence” (BI) is a term that dates all the way back to 1958. It encompasses the technologies, applications and practices for the collection, integration, analysis and presentation of business information. Its primary purpose is to support better business decision-making. As web-based applications grow more sophisticated and graphic development tools become more powerful, traditional business intelligence is evolving into a much richer, more intuitive way to present information, known as Visual Business Intelligence (VBI).

Visual business intelligence gives users the ability to analyze multi-dimensional data through visualization giving them the opportunity to act more decisively and with greater precision. It provides context, makes the information extremely intuitive for every type of business user and gives the ability to perform predictive What-If or cause and effect scenarios, optimizing the selection of the best possible alternative or course of action.

Giving Users Control

The value of a VBI application increases with the amount of control the users have over the information being displayed and how quickly they can change it. CRGT’S VBI solutions’ interactive filters allow you to choose what to display, based on any combination of characteristics you want. Custom icons can indicate object characteristics by their size, shape, and color. You can zoom in and out to see any level of geography, from the entire country all the way down to individual facilities and anything in between. View data by state, county, congressional district, census tract, or even your own custom areas such as districts and regions. You can even incorporate aerial and satellite imagery.

But viewing information on a map is just part of the value. Location-based queries identify objects of importance by their proximity to each other or to other points of interest, such as major highways, universities, post offices, or maintenance companies. See how many employees or customers live within a certain radius of certain office buildings. Determine driving distances.

Geocoding

CRGT also provides geocoding services. Geocoding is the process of finding associated geographic coordinates (usually expressed as latitude and longitude) from other geographic data. This includes street addresses and zip codes. To display data on a map, latitude and longitude coordinates are needed, but often a customer’s location-based data isn’t in this format. CRGT can geocode data to prepare it for use in geospatial applications.

Energy Resource Management

Close management of energy usage and costs is becoming more important every year. Becoming more energy efficient and reducing energy costs has both financial rewards and the benefit of helping improve our environment. In addition, there are federal mandates for reduction of energy use and increasing reliance on energy from renewable resources and non-petroleum fuels. For more information, see our Energy Resource Management section.

Space Optimization

Space optimization is an automated process for identifying properties that can be vacated by moving the operations and assets within those properties to other properties that have suitable excess space. CRGT has a well-defined methodology for developing a decision support system for space optimization that is customized to each customer’s business. CRGT combines a visual business intelligence capability (showing properties and related data on a map) with a cost model that uses available data about the facilities and customer-specified business rules to determine an optimum outcome that meets the customer’s business objectives. For more information, see our Space Optimization Planning section.
